Why I can hardly wait for the next Mother’s Day …

Ah, Mother’s Day – that second Sunday of each May.  I so love it.  It is not just because of the extra special attention from my family (although that is super awesome), but it is about those simple yet lasting memories that get created.  Here are my two favorite ones:

May 2010 – morning picnic in Great Falls, Virginia with my baby boy and hubs.  There was a cooler filled with simple foods, a wooden bench to sit on, morning dew on the green grass, and lots of giggles and exploration.  We also spent time gazing at the mesmerizing falls.
May 2019 – this one was super simple!  We woke up very early, got in the car and drove to the Dupont Circle Farmers Market.  We walked around, and bought some pastries, flowers and coffee.  I also received a funny card.  It was cold and it rained all day, but we didn’t care.  It was the perfect day.

I kept wondering, why these two Mother’s Days were the most memorable ones.  It’s because they were full of simple, true love and care.  And it’s moments like these that make this life so special.  Only 104 more days until the next one…
